My name is Martin Koban and I have been publishing about knee pain since 2012. My work is 100% evidence-based, has been reviewed by doctors, and has produced thousands of success stories with new ones coming in every single day.
My books and courses have been used by professional athletes, athletic coaches, physical therapists, recreational athletes, and regular people from all around the world.
My goal is to help people with knee pain build stronger knees and feel great for life.
Why My Approach Is Superior
I structure my work to achieve two goals: an obvious goal – to get rid of knee pain – and a hidden goal. To achieve them quickly, safely, and in situations where others have failed, I use a 3-step approach.
Step 1: Deep Knowledge
There are over a dozen different types of knee pain. They all happen in different ways, have different risk factors, and different treatment approaches.
You can of course use an identical solution for all these different problems and while there may be some improvement in some cases, it’s not going to work in many situations.
A superior solution starts with a deep understanding of the problem so that you’re able to solve it reliably and repeatedly.
To get that deep knowledge I have read over 1,700 studies about all different types of chronic knee pain, and I learned directly from expert clinicians in seminars.
This way, all my advice is 100% evidence-based and guaranteed to be the very best current research and clinical expertise has to offer.
Most competitors do not have this deep knowledge about the specific injuries, so they are just guessing what could work. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it makes things much worse.
If a person with knee pain reaches out to me for help, my conscience does not allow me to give advice based on a mere guess, which is why I spent years reading research. It’s a responsibility I do not take lightly, as advice can have a dramatic impact on someone’s future.
The right advice can help someone get back to doing what they love.
The wrong advice, on the other hand, can cause a permanent injury. For example, deep range of motion lunges have become a popular knee exercise recently, but they have also caused meniscus tears in countless people:
That’s why step #2 of my approach is:
Step #2: Strengthening Exercises That Must Meet 5 Criteria
My main goal is to help clients feel great and I’m convinced that with the right approach, everyone can get better. Strengthening exercises are a crucial part of the process.
In contrast, the main goals of competitors are to sell exercise equipment or to grow on social media. These goals are reflected in their exercise choices as they tend to be flashy, complicated, and entertaining to primarily serve the social media algorithm.
I want to make sure my recommendations are helping and not hurting my clients. That’s why all my exercises must meet the following 5 criteria.
My exercise recommendations must be:
- Safe: What can the person do with near zero risk?
- Simple: What can they learn to do correctly in minutes to get started right away?
- Short: Which exercises are so effective that even a person with a busy schedule will benefit?
- Smart: Which exercises are scientifically proven to address the specific problems a person has?
- Universal: Which exercises can be done regardless of age, fitness level, and sports background?
Deep knowledge provides the foundation upon which all exercise recommendations must be made. Without deep knowledge, any recommendation is just guesswork: throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.
That’s how combining steps #1 and #2 already produces a very effective approach, but for optimal results, we also need the following.
Step #3: Do Everything Possible for Fast Progress & Lasting Results
Strengthening exercises can produce amazing results but in some cases they’re not the fastest path and in others they don’t work at all.
Unlike competitors, I’m not limiting myself to just recommending exercises. My goal is to help people feel better, which is why I will readily suggest ANY treatment or approach that is proven to work by high quality scientific evidence.
If exercises are the best way to get stronger, I will tell you which exercises to do.
If getting some other treatment is a better option, I will tell you as well.
I only care about what works.
The combination of these 3 steps makes my approach superior in every way to all other options for improving knee pain through exercise. However, since I’ve invested most of my time into research and not into marketing, I could use your help with getting the word out.
Here’s How We Can Help People Together:
If You Are a Medical Professional…
How much time is there to explain an injury during the average consultation?
While the basics are quickly covered, each injury has intricacies and details that would take hours to convey. In a perfect world, you would have the time to do that. Here in the real world, however, taking hours to deal with a single patient is not feasible for so many reasons.
However, what if there was a trustworthy resource that could give your patients a deep understanding of their situation, allowing them to make informed decisions to stay safe, healthy, and happy?
That’s the solution I aim to provide with my books and courses: Give people a deep understanding so their recovery is faster, setbacks are much less likely, and improvements are lasting.
For example, my course on patellar tendinopathy explains the injury and all steps needed for a full recovery in detail with hours of video presentations and exercise demonstrations. To my knowledge, it’s the most in-depth resource that was ever created about this topic. I also continuously update it to include newer insights.
Another example is The Knee Reboot course. This course covers the causes and risk factors of all other chronic knee injuries in comprehensive research briefings and provides step-by-step strengthening protocols for each of these situations. The goal of the course is to build knees that feel great for life.
To create these courses, I have read over 1’731 research studies, learned from expert clinicians, and have worked with my readers to find the exact problems they were facing. That’s why these courses are the perfect resources for patients that want to know EVERYTHING they could be doing to feel better and to prevent setbacks.
If helping your patients in this way is something you’re interested in, feel free to contact me and I will send you review copies of the respective courses. That way you can judge the quality of my work for yourself.
If You Are a Social Media Influencer…
If knee pain is something part of your followers are dealing with, we could work together to help them feel better.
I have invested the last 12+ years of my life into learning everything about the many different types of knee pain and have already used that knowledge to help thousands of people from all around the world.
Here’s an overview of where my clients come from:
My work has produced thousands of success stories and it has been reviewed by doctors. If helping your followers feel great is something you’re interested in, feel free to contact me and I will send you review copies of my books and courses. That way you can judge the quality of my work for yourself.
If You Are a Gym Owner…
Gyms have recently faced several tough years. Retaining existing members has rarely been more important than it is today, especially since recruiting a new member is five times more expensive than retaining an existing one. In contrast, improving retention by a mere 5% will already increase profits by at least 25%.
But why do people cancel their gym membership?
There are many reasons, but a prominent one is being forced to quit due to injury. With a prevalence of 31.8%, knee pain is one of the biggest reasons why people cancel their gym membership (source).
But…
What if instead of knee pain forcing people to cancel, it made them more likely to stay subscribed?
Even better:
What if new members joined your gym because they want to work on their knee pain?
Knee pain affects around 25% of adults and this is a mostly untapped market for gyms. Just imagine how many additional members your gym could gain based on 25% of the population living in the radius your gym pulls from.
I have long been a proponent of training at home, but the truth is with their many available exercise machines, gyms are much better option for people with knee pain if they want to recovery quickly and stay pain-free for life.
For example, here’s a client of mine who used gym machines to recover from a stubborn knee injury:
If you know how, you can use these machines to build stronger knees that feel great. In fact, you can even use them to recover from several different knee injuries.

FAQ
Q: “How does your work fit in with doctors & physical therapy?”
A: Doctors and physical therapists are a great first line of defence for staying healthy. However, some people want to know what else they can do in addition to the recommendations made by their treating physician and physical therapist. That’s where my books and courses help by answering all remaining questions and giving additional advice to allow for an even faster recovery and to prevent setbacks.
Q: “Who is your target audience?”
People in my target demographic are:
- Over 35 years of age
- Recreational athletes and non-athletes
- Physically active, even if it’s “just” walking their dog
- Limited by knee pain
Q: “Are you a doctor or licensed medical professional?”
A: I am neither a doctor, nor a physical therapist, but a former patient. I struggled with several types of knee pain, which eventually forced me to learn about these injuries to recover completely. Rather than letting all that knowledge gather dust in some desk drawer, I decided to share what I had learned to help others. Word spread and eventually I was earning a living as an author.
Since I want to make sure my advice is safe and effective, I base all my recommendations on scientific evidence or the knowledge of expert clinicians, from whom I learned in seminars.
Q: “So what’s the hidden goal?”
The obvious goal of my work is to help people get rid of knee pain. The hidden goal is to give them the knowledge they need to never have knee pain again.
You can do the best strengthening exercises in the world, but if you don’t know how these exercises help in your specific situation, there will always be the risk of future mistakes. That’s why exercises are only part of what I do. A part that seems important, but in reality, is vastly less important than a deep understanding of knee pain.
